Rita Levi-Montalcini, 1909 – 2012, was an Italian Nobel laureate, honored for her contributions in neurobiology. She was given the 1986 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine jointly with colleague Stanley Cohen for the discovery of nerve growth factor. From 2001 until her death, she also served in the Italian Senate as a Senator for Life.
I hand crafted this unique, one of kind character from wood, wire, clay, paint, fiber, and fabric- Rita is a tiny and collectible 4 1/2 inches tall (11.4 cm). She wears a white silk blouse, 2 piece black suit, and has a pearl choker necklace. Final touches are her real fiber hair, hand painted face, and a tiny anatomy chart of the nervous system in hand.
